In the frame of the "policy learning" activity, the Health2CARE initiative is looking for 2 European experts to provide to Rhône Alpes Region an external analysis of regional strategies and tools spread out in the field of innovation, cross sectoral activities and emerging industries especially in the field of personalised medicine.
The Health2CARE partners organised 2 study trips in 2 different EU Regions for the identification of good practices on how to support entrepreneurship in emerging industries through clusters, especially in the field of personalised health.
The objectives were as follows:
We were very grateful to ACCIO which is the regional agency for Innovation, Internationalisation and Investment in Barcelona for the very good preparation of this study trip. As a result, meetings with regional clusters were organised coupled to the visits to some academic research laboratories dedicated to cross-technologies development applied to healthcare sector (micro-electronics, bio-engineering) and the visit to the Living Lab i2HEALTH. The partners had the opportunity to meet a very rich and integrated ecosystem were collaborations are strongly encouraged and facilitated between universities, research labs, hospitals and patients, with the economic approach through cluster organisations.
The role of ACCIO was presented as service provider for the clusters in the organisation of events, the writing up of projects, the European cluster certification and the interclustering missions at a regional and international level.
The development of the cross cluster collaboration in Catalonia is for example the creation of a cross sector cluster (new generation cluster) dedicated to children. The Kid's cluster is a group of companies that cooperates and innovates in all products and services addressed to children.

A strong mobilisation of Swedish partners, especially from "Invest in Skane" - the business promotion agency for Sweden's southernmost region - allowed us to meet 14 organisations (clusters, research centres, science parks, universities...). The Skane region has close connections with Denmark. A strong link exists between Academics and Industry due to the creation of big innovation centres. A quick conversion has taken place following the crisis of the mobile phone sector and a real cross sector collaboration has been developed by the Skane Region through 3 Open Innovation Arenas (Smart materials, Personal health, Smart sustainable cities)
