Launch of a dynamic initiative
Rhône-Alpes is a region at the forefront of climate action which is strongly committed to sustainable development. The Region joined forces with Nrg4SD and The Climate Group to co-organise the European Conference of Regions on Climate Change.
This conference was a springboard for a dynamic movement intended to optimize the impact of actions to protect the planet from the effects of climate change, underlining the important role played by subnational governments to implement the guidelines adopted at international level. These undertakings, formalized in the Lyon Declaration, were submitted to the European negotiators at COP17.

Rhône-Alpes celebrates the 300th anniversary of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s birth
Jean-Jacques Rousseau is a key historical personality in Rhône-Alpes. The career of this talented literary figure who was writer, thinker, philosopher and composer all rolled into one was closely linked to our region to which he was particularly attached and where he travelled extensively. It is therefore fitting that, in this anniversary year, the Region of Rhône-Alpes should pay tribute to the life and works of this "solitary" walker whose ideas are just as relevant today as they were three hundred years ago.
