The world is our oyster

Rhône-Alpes accounts for almost 12% of all French exports and one in every three jobs is related to international trade! This gives you an idea how open the Region is to the world, and how it encourages any initiatives to this effect, as can be seen in particular by the export assistance it provides for Rhône-Alpes SMEs through such high performance tools as its international economic development agency, ERAI and its export aid programmes.

ERAI's main task is to promote and support the development of Rhône-Alpes companies on international markets. It has twenty or so offices worldwide - in Atlanta, Barcelona, Krakow, Montreal, New Delhi, Shanghai, Stuttgart, Tokyo, Turin, etc. - all working to drum up business for Rhône-Alpes companies.

International influence

The Region's international influence and development also mean establishing skills centres and foreign companies in the Rhône-Alpes region itself. To this end, ERAI seeks out foreign investors and assists them with their development projects in the region. From the point of view of tourism, the Regional Tourist Board, Rhône-Alpes Tourisme works on promoting the region as a tourist destination. Finally, Rhône-Alpes has also developed a deliberate and innovative policy aimed at the sectors in which it excels. The Rhône-Alpes "Clusters" benefit from International Development Plans initiated by the Region to foster their international development.
